Moss grows slowly, quietly, and resiliently—often in places others overlook. It doesn't demand attention, but it's always there, doing its quiet work of growth and renewal.
We chose the name MossLog because that's how sustainable wellness works too. Not dramatic transformations or daily optimization, but gentle, consistent noticing. Small check-ins that accumulate into patterns. Quiet growth that happens at your own pace.
The sprout in our logo represents that same idea: something small breaking through, growing steadily, rooted in patience. MossLog is your space to track that kind of growth—the unhurried, resilient kind.
MossLog is built for conservation professionals, field researchers, and mission-driven workers who spend their days caring for the world but rarely have time to check in with themselves. This isn't another productivity app trying to optimize every minute of your day. It's a quiet space to notice how you're really doing.
We designed it to be simple, private, and calm—no trackers watching you, no algorithms judging you, no notifications pushing you. Just a gentle place to land at the end of the day and say: here's how I felt, here's what I'm carrying.
MossLog is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your device like a native app. It works on phones, tablets, and computers.
On iPhone/iPad (Safari):
- Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up)
- Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
- Tap "Add" in the top right
- MossLog will appear on your home screen with the sprout icon
On Android (Chrome):
- Tap the three dots menu (⋮) in the top right
- Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
- Tap "Add" or "Install"
- MossLog will appear in your app drawer and home screen
On Desktop (Chrome/Edge):
- Look for the install icon (⊕ or computer icon) in the address bar
- Click it and select "Install"
- MossLog will open in its own window like a desktop app
Once installed, MossLog works completely offline and feels like a native app. You can uninstall it anytime from your device's app management settings.
MossLog is for conservation professionals, researchers, NGO staff, educators, and anyone doing mission-driven environmental work. Whether you're in the field, at a desk, or traveling between sites, this is a quiet space to notice patterns in your wellbeing.
Each check-in takes less than a minute. Click the + icon and you'll see three simple sliders for mood, energy, and stress. Move them to wherever feels right—there's no wrong answer here.
If you want, you can add context like "fieldwork" or "office" so you can see patterns later. You can also add notes about what's on your mind. Then we'll ask you one gentle reflection question. You can answer it or skip it—whatever feels right in that moment.
That's it. You've created a small record of how you were feeling, and over time, these moments add up to patterns you can actually see.
There's no right frequency. Some people check in daily, others a few times a week. The most important thing is checking in when you notice something worth tracking—not forcing it because you "should."
Quality over quantity. A few meaningful check-ins are more valuable than a rigid daily habit that adds pressure to your day.
The + icon opens a new check-in. The ☰ icon shows your history. The ↗ icon shows trends and patterns. The ⚙ icon opens settings. The ? icon (you're here!) shows help and answers.
Mood, energy, and stress are the core dimensions of how we experience our days. Together, they tell a fuller story than any single metric could.
You might have good energy but low mood. You might be stressed but energized. These combinations matter, and tracking them helps you understand what's actually happening beneath the surface. When you look back over weeks or months, you'll start to see: what contexts drain you, what patterns emerge, what really helps.
We kept it to just three things because this is meant to be sustainable. If tracking your wellness becomes another burden, we've failed.
All your data lives right here on your device, stored in your browser using something called IndexedDB. Nothing is sent anywhere. There are no servers waiting to receive your check-ins, no clouds storing your reflections.
This means your wellness data is truly private. We can't see it. No one else can see it. It's yours, living quietly on your device, ready when you want to look back but otherwise just resting there, safe.
If you want to back it up or move it to another device, you can export it anytime from Settings.
Yes, completely. MossLog works offline by design. Once you've loaded it once, you can check in from a remote field site, a research station with spotty wifi, or anywhere else you might be.
This is a Progressive Web App, which means it lives in your browser but works like a real app. Internet not required. Service bars not required. Just you and your check-in, wherever you are.
Go to Settings (the ⚙ icon) and scroll to the Data Management section. Click "Export Data" and you'll download a JSON file containing all your check-ins, complete with timestamps, notes, and reflections.
Save that file somewhere safe—an external drive, a cloud folder you control, wherever you keep important things. If you ever need to look at your data outside MossLog, any text editor can open that file. It's yours, in a format you can actually read and use.
We recommend exporting periodically, just to have a backup. Your browser data is generally very stable, but life happens.
Go to Settings → Insights Display to choose which patterns and trends appear on your Trends page. Turn off anything that doesn't feel helpful to you.
All insights are on by default, but you have full control. If certain sections feel overwhelming or not useful, just toggle them off. The app will remember your preferences and only show what you've chosen.
On the Trends page, click "Compare Mode" to see side-by-side comparisons of any two contexts. Select two context tags (like "Fieldwork" and "Office/desk"), and you'll see your average mood, energy, and stress for each, along with gentle observations about where they differ.
This can help you notice patterns like where your energy tends to be higher or which contexts support your wellbeing better. When you're done, click "Compare Mode" again to return to the regular trends view.
The data is yours to use however feels helpful. Some people review their trends weekly to spot patterns. Others export it to share with a therapist or trusted colleague. There's no right way to use it. The goal is simply to help you notice things you might otherwise miss when you're busy or overwhelmed.
Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that happens when the demands of your work consistently exceed your capacity to recover. It's especially common in mission-driven fields where you care deeply about the work.
You might notice:
- Feeling drained even after rest
- Cynicism about work that used to matter to you
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- Physical symptoms (headaches, sleep issues, etc.)
MossLog isn't designed to fix burnout - that's what rest, boundaries, and sometimes professional support are for. What it does do is help you notice patterns you might otherwise miss. Sometimes just seeing "I always feel worse after back-to-back meetings" or "fieldwork recharges me" is enough to make small, helpful changes.
If you're experiencing burnout, please talk to a healthcare provider. MossLog is for tracking and noticing, not treating.
Sample data creates 10 realistic check-ins so you can see how the Trends page works before you've built up your own history. It's helpful for testing the app or understanding what insights you'll eventually see.
You can load it from Settings → Data Management, and delete it anytime from the same place. Sample check-ins are clearly labeled so you know which ones are real.
